Equine Competitors

I specialize in helping equine competitors get the most out of the time and money that they have put into their horse, the training and the riding instruction. Frequently the missing piece, the difference between being in the money and not, just like for any other athlete or competitor, is how to manage your thoughts when you step into the arena or the show pen.  If you’ve ever finished a competition and said to yourself “The horse did great, but I messed up.”, or:

  • You find it hard to “focus” while you’re competing
  • You get nervous or anxious beforehand
  • You get nervous or anxious with an audience
  • You are disappointed that your practice is better than your competing is

You are fighting the battle for your mind!  It’s a battle for Ambition, Confidence, Competitive Arousal, and Concentration, and I will help you win the battle.

I work with you to help you understand how your mind works and then help you learn to apply that knowledge before, during, and after competing.  I’ll teach you and provide tools to keep your mind “in the now” during the competition.

I use modern sports hypnosis techniques which are extremely powerful in bringing about positive and permanent change.  These techniques assist you in reprogramming so that you eliminate your negative self-limiting thoughts and you achieve complete confidence to compete.  We develop a long term strategy for motivation, then an intermediate stage where you learn to be focused and calm yet competitive, and finally preparation for the day of competition so you can manage yourself if something doesn’t go as planned (we’ve all been there, right?).  Golfers, shooters, weightlifters, baseball players and athletes from many other walks of life have learned the value of hypnosis and it’s time horse people do too.

And let’s not forget that we all know how sensitive horses are.  They can feel your tension and they can feel your anxiety.  Let your horse be the best it can be by learning how to release that tension and anxiety before you ride.

I want to be a member of your equestrian team.  Think about it for a minute:  At the very least the team is you and your horse, but more likely it includes you, your horse, your trainer, your vet and your farrier.  Adding a professional to help you make sure you take advantage of all that other preparation starts to make a lot of sense.

There are no quick fixes but I can promise that as you go through the process you will feel better about your ability to compete and you will feel better about yourself.  You will feel unbeatable and confident.

I offer a free 30 minute introduction and assessment.  You learn about the approach and I learn about you.  From there we decide if we want to work together and we lay out a plan for your success.
